Sewing Sunday

This week I have mostly been sewing. I started off making some camera straps using this tutorial here. This was my first time using fusible volume fleece and I really like how padded it makes everything.
I made one for myself (green) and one for my best friend (purple). Discovered a problem with photographing  these, I was so eager to put my one on my camera strap I didn't realise that I can't use the camera to photograph its own strap lol. So I had to take the strap off again to take these photos.

Using more of the Millie Moon fabric bundles I made my mother a Tablet sleeve for her Samsung Galaxy tab 3.

Using more fusible volume fleece so its nice and padded. I made this using my own design and so there are a few areas I can improve on, like the lining inside.

Really pleased how it turned out, even if there are a few obvious wonky bits, but my mum likes it and it fits the tablet nice and snug.

Watercolour Wednesday

Another butterfly; Small Tortoiseshell. I have no idea what happened to the background, I think the wash must of reacted with the lifting preparation, it made an interesting effect anyway.

Butterfly paintings

Last year was not a good year for my art, especially watercolour paintings, I think I managed to finish one painting in the whole year. I had really lost confidence in my ability to paint.

However I have kicked myself in the arse and told myself to get over it and this week I have sat down and completed not one, not two but three paintings! In the order that I painted them:

Red Admiral, All these paintings are postcard size.

Peacock Butterfly

and a Painted Lady. I know these are not perfect and the backgrounds are a long way off good, but I've got to start somewhere right?

Kilner jar pin cushion

This has been a project I have wanted to do for a while, I can't remember where I saw it but a quick Google search of Kilner jar pin cushions gave me a list of tutorials (I followed this one)

I went with the 1 Litre jar as I wanted to use it as storage for my sewing threads. The fabric I bought from Millie Moon  when I went to Frome for their Christmas market in December.

I tried to make it more 'poofy' but then the lid didn't close properly.

And my jar matches my new Sewing pot that my best friend bought me for Christmas! (Made by Gil Flury)

Christmas Commissions

As its after Christmas now, I think its safe to post what I was working on before Christmas:

A new Stitch! its been 4 years since the last Stitch I made and I am very pleased with the improvement. Most of all is how not squished everything is lol.
Comparison of the two, Better colours and less fingerprints. The teeth were no easier to put in though.
and this little guy! I love the pose and his little feet!
