 Februarys box

March's Box

I loved April's box so much that I did multiples, including a self portait.

Then I aslo bought an old box from the shop which I think was Jan 2017, and I LOVE how my drawing came out!

Scrawlrbox September

Excited by this box, as its watercolours but different?! never seen or heard of these before but its a novel idea, good for traveling. Also excited about the winsor and newton fineliner pen, I've been wanting to try these out since they first mentioned them.

Another dragon

A little blue and silver dragon, this time with dice in its treasure hoard. Unsure what to do with the background, should I paint it gold, or stick with the galaxy background like the red one? hmmmm
Also somehow the paper got scratched before I started painting but I wasnt about to let that put me off.

A little dragon art

I've been wanting to get back to drawing and painting dragons for while now, and I have a few projects in the pipeline that require some dragon art. So here are a few practice pieces.

And here is a more recent artwork that I really love even though I can spot about 3 things wrong with it. Really pleased with how the coins came out, as last time I painted coins it did not go well.

ScrawlBox June and July

Heres what I did with Junes Scrawlrbox, not following the prompt but painting something that I've been meaning to for a while, a Blue fronted Amazon. Really loved this tiny pallette but I did miss my range of colours from my regular Winsor and Newton paints.

This is Julys box, its water mixable oils and the prompt is Abstract floral, so I think this one might sit in the to do pile for a while lol. Its not that I dont like it, its just that oils are messy and there's only one canvas with this so I feel I need some practice first.

June's ScrawlrBox

Love this box, although I have already got the Polychromos colouring pencils, but I don't own the Daler Rowney Aquafine watercolours. It's a cute travel set that I've been carrying around in my bag since it arrived but have yet to use them lol. The prompt is Summer flourish and I am really stuck on it.

Scrawlrbox December 2017

Well Blogmas went well didn't it? lol, lets just brush that under the carpet and talk about December's Scrawlrbox:

I loved everything about this box, the gold watercolours (in 6 colours!) the wide water brush, the Derwent pencil and the Micron pen. They also gave us two different types of paper to use as the gold would look lovely on black. Though the box was essentially the same as November's box (gold, line marker, pencil) I didn't want to do anything that was too similar to my Koi piece.

The prompt was Mythical Creatures so I was going to do a dragon but I really wanted to draw a skull so why not a Unicorn skull. I couldn't do a gold circle as the background as the horn was already gold and it wouldn't stand out so I tried something different and not my usual style. Initially I didn't like it but after leaving it alone for a while it grew on me.

Anyway January's box arrived this week, already done something with the materials as I was super excited and inspired by something else I bought this week.....

Blogmas day 1

Ok so for the next 24 (or maybe longer) days I will attempt to update this blog everyday with either Chrsitmassy stuff or regular day to day stuff.

First off my Moo.com order arrived a day ago and for the first time ever I have actually got Christmas Cards printed! I was spurred on when they sent out a 30% off code during black Friday. So that Saturday I was frantically painting the image/idea I have had floating around in my head for a few months.

I also took advantage of the code to reorder some more business cards and to also include a new image, the blue treasure dragon. Stickers!!! love stickers, this time the little book of stickers is just full of the treasure dragon images, because why not.

This is the image:

and here are the cards:

Love 'em! Also don't know why my camera decided to make all these images really blue :( think it might be this time of year and the lack of sunlight.

September Scrawlrbox

So this is Septembers box and I love it! Watercolours!!!!!

3 Tubes of Van Gogh Watercolours, (I've always wanted to do a photo of tubes of paint with some squeezed out).
Likey to use again? Yes! I love having different brands of watercolours in my paint box and these are quite big sizes in comparison to some I already own.

Seawhite Synthetic brushes, not the best for watercolours as synthetic doesn't hold as much water as sable brushes, also strong pigments stain them.
Likey to use again? Yes, its always good to have many brushes, and these will add to the seawhite brushes I got in February's box

Pentel correcting pen, I think I would have preferred a white watercolour pencil to this as this comes out quite thick. The prompt was Space Mask so we would use this for stars but its really big, at least a white watercolour pencil could be shaved and the pigment mixed with water and then you could splatter the paint with a brush over the piece to create random stars.
Likey to use again? Sort of, I will add it to my stationary collection.

And Finally Watercolour pencils by Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth. I like these, the colours are a good choice for the prompt I would have liked a purple but you can make it with the blue and pink. As I said above you can get a knife or sharpen these pencils (removing the wood shaving) and mix the pigment with water and you get a homemade watercolour pan. Which gives you a much stronger colour than if you coloured the paper and went over with water.
Likey to use again? Yes, I already have a few watercolour pencils (derwent) and these will add more colours.

The prompt was Space mask, I have already done something but I want to add more detail to it.
