Another Update

Kinda neglected this again haven't I? lol

The begging of November I was in Hong kong for nearly 2 weeks which was super fun and I loved every minute of it, I might make a seperate blog post for photos when I have finally sorted through them lol.

Anyway I have been making some more dragons for my shop the last two weeks, this week hasnt been too productive as I have had a cold :(

First up non-dragons:

Dishonored 2 came out when we landed back in the UK so I made a Rune as I love the game so much!

Steampunk octopus, Love this little guy, he came out better then I was expecting. He was suppose to have a top hat as well but after I had antiqued the metal it didn't look right.

Dragon D20 couple, the d20s are removable and can be switched with each others.

They are also not stuck together so the can be posed differently. They are available here

And I finally made Novembers Birthstone: Topaz! I really love the colour combination of this one, available here

I have also made Decembers Birthstone as well but that's waiting to be varnished, which I shall do shortly.

An update

Whats been going on since I last posted in here: I got a new type of varnish for my polymer clay models, its a UV resin and it cures in a UV box:

So now that I don't have to wait a week for the varnish on my dragons to dry I can have them made and in the shop much quicker! as the box cures the resin in 10 to 15 mins!

So this little chap was the first dragon to have the new varnish:

The resin gives a very high gloss shine

I also varnished some new pumpkins with it as well and you can see the comparison here:

old varnish on the left and new on the right.

The new pumpkins are also in the shop with the Poison dragon here

I did also make another octopus but apparently I haven't photograph it yet hmmm...

I am slowly working on Inktober as well, but I'll make another post for that a bit later.

Sewing Sunday

I dun some sewing, w00t!
Yesterday I went to a wedding and I finally made myself an item of clothing to wear, and a wedding is a perfect opportunity to wear a pretty dress:

I have had a pattern from Love Sewing magazine for a year? 2 years? Its called the Ruby dress by Simple Sew. This one here http://www.simplesewpatterns.com/index.php/patterns/the-ruby-dress.html
I made it longer in the skirt because I don't skirts higher then my knees, I also made the petticoat underneath it as well. The belt was bought from a car boot sale for less then a pound.

So yeah there is plenty wrong with it, like pokey boob darts and wonky side darts lol I did managed to get all the seams matched/aligned so I'm pleased with that as I usually fail at them.

Yay a dress! that I made! Happy Michelle :)

I made a custom dragon family as a wedding present for some friends. I really love the little dragon babies!

And the heart

My favourite dragon so far this year and has already sold, Vault-Tec Dragon! with a tiny Pip-boy on its arm. I am currently working on another two one male and one female, they should be in the shop by the weekend.

Birthstone dragons update

September, Sapphire, I don't know what happened when I was photographing this one, somehow the white background kept picking up a blue/purple tint from somewhere. Most annoying. Better photos here

This one is probably my favourite so far, October, Opal. It kinda came out feminine so I am going to do another one with a blue belly. More photos and the etsy listing here

Birthstone Dragons

I've been working on a new series of dragons this past month, Birthstone Dragons! I started with June as I started the series in May and I wanted to list them in the shop as soon as they were done. Logically the ones that would sell would be the dragons whose months were closer (gifts and such).
So here is June Pearl:
Tricky to photograph the dragon and get the pearl in focus at the same time especially as my 35mm lens has just broken :(

July Ruby:
A bit of planning has to go into the colour schemes because Ruby is red just like Garnet and I don't want two similar dragons with only one difference.

August Peridot:
This one casued me the greatest difficulty with the colour scheme, I was stuck on this for quite some time which is why I am not as far into the series as I would have liked at this point. I was going to leave it and work on Septembers but I am glad I persevered as I think this one is my favourite so far.

June and July have already sold so I am planning on restocking them soon but August is going to be in the shop today or tomorrow? (still waiting on the varnish to dry).

So that's what I have been working on so far.

Sculpey Swans

I really loved my original swan that I made last year and it was on my to do list to make a pair. After making my pheasant I got started on these guys, the male has the brighter beak.

In other news the oven has broken so at the moment so I cannot make any polymer clay pieces :( so there won't be any clay updates for a while.

Oh and before I forget Paint palette earrings have been restocked and have a new design! Have a look here (these were made just before the oven broke)

Fimo Friday

I have been working on this little chap this week, a Pheasant! made from super sculpey and painted with acrylics. I know he's not 100% anatomically correct (neck too long). I think next time I made one I will not have the wings made out of clay and instead paint the wings directly on the body.

Sketching Saturday

I'm trying to fill my new Ebony A4 sketchbook with many sketches, and trying to have loads of the same subject on the same page. So here is a page I scanned (hence the grey area top left). I tried to spend about an hour or less on each sketch.

Next week I'll post the current page I'm drawing (its Falcons).

I'm going to be putting warhammer blog posts on my new blog vaultreasures.blogspot.co.uk as I have quite a few posts already planned and don't want to spam this blog with them.

Warhammer Wednesday

Haven't been able to photograph what I have been painting this week, so here are a few models I painted about 5 years ago:

Fire Dragons, Phoenix Lord Fuegan and a Harlequin Shadowseer. The metal models have suffered a bit with some bits of paint chipping off edges (Fire dragon's finger for example). The Shadowseer is now part of a different army and it has a new model now :(

Warhammer Wednesdays

So the last few weeks my friends and I have gotten back into playing Warhammer 40k, and this time I am determined to have the whole of my army painted. I'm not going to spam this post with a tonne of photos today, so here are a few of the most recent models I have been painting:

Howling Banshees in various stages (I have a short attention span :p)

Their leader the Exarch
And a recent addition (arrived yesterday) Jain Zar the Phoenix lord of the Howling Banshees. Still got a lot of work do on these gals, but so far I am pleased with how they are progressing.
